Colorado Safety Policy

Colorado safety policy information

This page includes important information about Hily’s safety policies and reporting procedures, as required by Colorado law.

Please also refer to our Community Guidelines, Terms of Use, Safety Tips  and Your Sate Matter page as measures to keep your experience on Hily safe and respectful and promote safer online and in-person dating in general.

What is Hily’s policy regarding sexual violence and other conduct that threatens public or personal safety?

At Hily, we are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all users. Hily does not tolerate any form of harassment, sexual violence, stalking, or any conduct that threatens personal or public safety, whether on or offline.

Engaging in sexual conduct with another person without their consent is not only against Hily’s rules but also against the law. It can lead to serious consequences, including civil or criminal liability. If there is a criminal investigation, we will fully cooperate with law enforcement.

For additional details regarding Hily’s rules, see our Community Guidelines, Terms of Use and Safety Tips.

How can I report conduct or content that I think violates Hily’s guidelines?

You can quickly and easily submit a report using the in-app reporting tool, on our website, or sending us an email at support@hily.com .

If you encounter behavior that breaches our Community Guidelines or Terms of Use, we strongly encourage you to report it to us. All member reports are sent to our human moderation team for evaluation. Keep in mind that reporting a profile does not block it, make sure you hit the Block button if you no longer wish to see (or be seen by) someone.

Here are the quick steps you can follow in the Hily app when reporting:

  1. Select the profile of the user you’d like to report
  2. Once you have selected the report, tap the section “Report&Block” at the end of the user`s profile
  3. Once you have tapped to report, you can provide one of the following reasons:
  • Bullying or insulting behaviour
  • Scam or commercial
  • Fake
  • Inappropriate content
  • Underage
  • Other
  1. After the reason, tell us details you think would help us with the report by choosing the relevant category
  2. Next, let us know where the offense occurred (select all that apply):
  • Something in their bio or profile answers
  • Something in their photos or videos
  • It`s in a message they sent me on Hily
  • It`s in something they sent me off Hily
  1. After that, your report will be sent to the support team.

To send a report via email support@hily.com, please get in touch here and include the following info:

  • The reason for the report
  • The exact name, age, bio, and photos that appear on the profile (screenshots are best)
  • The person’s location, phone number or email address (if known)

Submitting false reports for malicious, biased, or other illegitimate reasons is a violation of our Terms and may result in action being taken against your account.

Does Hily verify users’ identities or run criminal background checks?

We offer Photo verification and, in some markets, an optional identity verification feature via human moderators. In some cases, we may ask a user to complete a photo ID verification process if we suspect that an account is inauthentic, has been compromised, or belongs to someone who is ineligible to use our services. While we do not conduct criminal background or identity checks on all users, we may check users’ information against state sex offender registries when we have sufficient information to do so. Accounts found to belong to registered sex offenders are banned.

No online photo verification or background screening process is foolproof, nor can it guarantee that a person is safe. Always be cautious when meeting new people online or in person. For more advice to help you stay safe, check out our Safety Tips and Your Sate Matter page.

No part of the Service of Hily is directed to persons under the age of eighteen.

Can individuals who have been convicted of a crime use Hily?

Our Terms prohibit the use of our services by anyone who has been convicted of or pled no contest to a felony or any crime involving sexual misconduct or violence. If we become aware that a user has a criminal history that makes them ineligible to use Hily, we ban their account.

What happens to a user who is reported for violating the rules?

We take all reports of misconduct seriously. We promptly review reports and, if we determine the user has violated our Terms or Community Guidelines, we take appropriate action. Depending on the seriousness of the violation, consequences will range from a warning to a ban. Violations involving violence, the threat of violence, sexual misconduct, or other serious harmful behavior will result in a ban on the Hily app.

We limit the information we share about reports when necessary to protect safety or privacy of reporters and other involved parties.

All users have the opportunity to appeal actions taken against their accounts. If your account has been banned or you have had content removed from Hily, but you do not believe you have violated our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, you can submit an appeal directly through this form or email at support@hily.com. Hily also has more information about submitting an appeal in our Moderation Policy.

We’ll only review appeals that provide all of the required information and are submitted directly through this designated form. If your form is incomplete, we won’t be able to review or process your application to appeal. Your appeal must be submitted within 6 months of the date of the action you are contesting.

Please note, multiple appeal submissions won’t be considered, and may alter your position in the queue.

When a report about a user’s misconduct is received, do you notify the user’s matches?

In compliance with Colorado law, we send in-app notifications to Colorado users who have exchanged messages with a member who we have banned due to known or suspected fraudulent behavior. “Fraudulent behavior” is behavior that, in our judgment, indicates the user poses a significant risk of attempting to obtain money (or something of value) from other users through fraudulent means, by using a false identity, or by attempting to defraud other users.

Otherwise, as provided in our Privacy Policy, we can only disclose a user’s account information in limited circumstances, such as when it is the subject of a lawful subpoena or warrant or otherwise required by law.
