Everything started with an Instagram post. It shared a snap of Joe Jonas dressed as a dog-like creature with Sophie Turner in the background wearing bunny ears. This instantly led to fan theories about the couple potentially being an item already.
November
In November 2016, DNCE performed at the MTV EMAs (European Music Awards). There, we saw Sophie Turner sitting next to Joe Jonas in a pre-award show performance by the Kings of Leons!
This pre-show took place at the Oude Luxor Theater. Rumors said Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner had been kissing all evening—and he even had his arm around her!
Later, everybody saw Sophie with Joe at a friend’s wedding, which further fuelled the rumors that these two might be seeing each other!
December
December 2016 can be labeled as the unofficially-official era for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner. Both are famous for wanting to keep their personal lives down low, but rumours were unstoppable!

2017: Officially Official (and Engaged)!

All of a sudden, things get Instagram official! Sophie Turney posted a picture to her Instagram account of Joe Jonas riding in a boat while smoking a cigar. The caption said, “Miami daze”.
For a secret relationship, this definitely felt like a pretty big deal! And pretty soon, paparazzi saw these two kissing at the Golden Globes—a big moment, too!
February
Sophie Turner hits Instagram as she poses in Louis Vuitton at the BAFTAs. Meanwhile, Joe Jonas was in LA for the Grammys. They seem apart, but he leaves her a cheeky fire emoji… Just so we all know exactly how he’s feeling about her unbelievable outfit!
Indeed, Sophie’s high leg slit and plunging neckline were definitely making a big statement on the red carpet.

Apparently, Sophie and Joe were seen kissing on the red carpet at the Met Gala! Although they did not walk on the carpet together.
This is not that unusual, though, as many celebrity couples actually receive separate invites and attend for stand-alone reasons.

At this point in their romance, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner went slightly more public. Precisely, the couple started to discuss being in a relationship a little.
Later on in the month, Turner spoke out at Comic-Con. There, she said Jonas had a “good accessory,” meaning an embroidered jacket with the name of THAT DNCE song on it. So cute!

In September 2017, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas adopted the cutest Siberian Husky puppy that we had ever seen together! They chose to name him Porky Basquiat.
He indeed has his very own Instagram profile, where you can follow him on all his fluffy adventures.

In October 2017, a post from both the couple’s Instagram accounts shared that “she said yes” with Turner sporting an absolutely beautiful pear-cut diamond. Turner wrote, “I said yes.” whereas Joe wrote, “She said yes.”

2018: More Public Appearances
October
During Paris Fashion Week in October 2018, the couple made their first-ever red carpet debut at the Louis Vuitton Show.
It was a little more casual than other events they attended. But still, this fashionable date was definitely a big deal—it was one of the biggest events they had attended since becoming engaged!
December
The couple spent Christmas with the other Jonas brothers, including Nick’s wife, Priyanka Chopra, and the rest of their extended family.
In one image shared to Sophie’s Instagram account, you can see all of the family members gathered around a large round table enjoying Christmas lunch, with Turner choosing to caption it “Family”. Ah!
2019: Wedding Season

After appearing in the music video for “Sucker”, Sophie Turner spoke to The Sunday Times. There, she revealed the couple had previously split for just 24 hours! According to Turner, both parties simply got cold feet at the last minute and separated for the day, with them saying it was “the worst day of our lives.”
Later that month, they definitely threw out the idea of having any cold feet with a quick wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. Diplo live-streamed the event to his Instagram story, and Dan + Shay played music in what must’ve been one of the coolest weddings to have ever taken place.
“We had to get legally married in the states, so we thought it’d be really fun to get all of our friends, invite them out, and do an impromptu wedding.”

Soon after that, the newlyweds decided to walk the Met Gala red carpet together. You can definitely see the look of love Joe has for Sophie at this milestone event for the famously private couple!

In June 2019, the couple decided to have their “real” wedding in France. For a healthy dose of French romance, the lovers chose the venue Le Château de Tourreau. Turner chose co-star Maisie Williams as her maid of honor.
Of course, in true Sophie Turner fashion, the dress was an absolutely stunning gown designed by Louis Vuitton, which took over 350 hours to make!
2020: Baby Willa Is Born!
After a very private pregnancy, the couple announced the arrival of a healthy baby girl who they named Willa. During her pregnancy, Turner decided not to show any photographs of her baby bump, but in September 2020, she gave us a little glimpse into her pregnancy on Instagram.
Of course, the famously private couple chose not to share snaps of the newborn to protect her privacy.
2021: 5-Year Wedding Anniversary
October 2021 comes around, and we see the lovers celebrate their fifth year as a married couple! To celebrate this insane milestone, Joe Jonas posted a super sweet montage of meeting Turner for the first time on TikTok.
He captioned the post “five years knowing this one” which we think is seriously sweet!
2022: Another Baby Girl

It’s May, and we are back at the Met Gala. Yet Sophie is sporting a very unique and exciting accessory. Fans were quick to spot a growing baby bump as the couple appeared together on the red carpet.

2023: Divorce Rumors and Official Statement

We have always advocated for our kids’ rights to privacy so sharing this publicly is something that is against anything I stand for. Our children deserve the right to grow up out of the public eye, to learn and grow in private. If I ever were to post anything of our kids, know that it is unquestionably a mistake. September
In September 2023, fans noticed the Dark Phoenix star and Jonas had removed their wedding ring in an Instagram post. By the third of the month, it was announced that the couple was seeking divorce proceedings, with Jonas saying he had the children since Turner was filming in London.
Ouch!
In court documents, Jonas’s filing for divorce stated that the marriage was irretrievably broken. However, many speculative narratives started to swirl. They included Turner wanting the charming blue shutters adorning a country house with a Wendy house she was telling British Vogue in the past.
On September 6th, a joint statement is released on both the couple’s social accounts.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they said. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
While this statement suggested the couple had mutually decided to split, some rumours did not share the same energy, saying Jonas “blindsided” Turner.
On this day, the Florida judge ruled their marriage to be irretrievably broken. Yet, the final terms and custody battle were not settled.
While it seems they are both seeking shared parenting, the two young daughters were ordered to stay in New York while legal documents were made and an amicable resolution was formed.
While Sophie wanted them to leave the country immediately with such strong will, this temporary agreement should allow both parents to spend time equally with Jonas and Turner.

Mediation for child custody begins, and we all sincerely hope that these stars are on their way to being great co-parents without a struggle. Jonas was hoping for a productive and successful mediation, but no representative spoke out on behalf of Sophie.
At this point, the last we heard was Sophie advised she wanted to move to England with the kids. Yet, Jonas had written a letter asking a British person to sell their house to the family before the split. Just lots of drama…
On October 10, the couple reached a temporary agreement for custody. Thanks God! This is the first hint a settlement agreement might be made despite both parties having so much will for the case to go their way.

On October 12, Jonas dismissed Miami case court documents. The two aim to amicably end the relationship and make a settlement agreement outside of court with joint custody. The court documents obtained show the two are eager to keep this friendly for their kids and since it was Jonas who filed and not Turner filed then he must be the one to dismiss the case.
November
A month later, Sophie Turner was already back to dating and acting. Strong girl!
In November 2023, she became linked to British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, thus moving forward with her love life. Who knows how the divorce will end—but she looks incredibly happy with her new man.
2024: Divorce Is Finalised
After almost a full year to the day, their divorce is finalised. Despite claims Sophie said it was a “struggle being a single mother,” which was actually when she was discussing a character who is a single mother, things seem to be all wrapped up now.
Turner does state “Joan changed her” and taught her to be more resilient as a single mom as well as do a good ring swap and be a jewel thief! We seriously doubt Turner is working as a jewel thief but her portrayal of Joan is very convincing!
