Penny and Forest

I was always weird, in fact, I knew that while I loved the idea of a dating website I hated the usual first-date ideas. I don’t know why I hated them so much, but the whole dinner at a fancy restaurant or coffee at a cafe just seemed so overdone. So I put in my profile that I would only go on a date if you suggest something interesting. 

I got so many messages suggesting fancy restaurants I had never heard of, going to carnivals, taking spontaneous vacations, and more. But none of them were what I was really looking for. It was all the same boring stuff everyone does on a date. I was actually thinking of deleting my account when this guy suddenly messaged me and asked if I wanted to join him in Volunteering at the local animal shelter. 

I won’t lie when I say that that suggestion surprised me a bit. I had wanted something different for my date and this was definitely different. I don’t think I even hesitated when I asked him when and where we would be going. We went together and we spent the entire day helping out at the shelter. I managed to really connect with him during our time at the shelter. We still spend a lot of time there. But on that day I fell in love with a cat with one eye. So when I left the shelter I had a boyfriend and a little furball named Squint.
